Vanadium research

Question:
Confused about using electrochemistry and its use with vanadium
compounds. Is there any research going on, at present in
this area? Who, what and where?

Answer 1:
Your question is so broad that it's hard to answer...
vanadium's chemistry in aqueous solution is dominated
by the presence of hydrated vanadium cations and solvated vanadium
oxides. V can be found in the oxidation states (II,III,IV,V).
Like any species which can be found in a variety of oxidation
states in solution, these can be interconverted by electrolysis;
also, vanadium oxidation states can be used to power up a voltaic
cell. So there must be a connection to electrochemistry....
but not being an electrochemist, it's hard for me to find out
any more details with which to answer your question when the
question is not clearly defined.

Please feel free to try again though!

PS: I got my information on vanadium from "Advanced Inorganic Chemistry"
by F.A. Cotton and G. Wilkinson (Wiley, New York). This may be a good
place for you to look for more information!

Answer 2:
You should also try Chemical Abstracts in a good library. Under vanadium
will be a listing of recent papers published in a number of journals.
That'll give you your who, what and where.
