Freezing Point Elevation

Name: John
Status: other
Grade: other
Location: UT

Question: Is there any way to raise the freezing point of water? I
understand that adding salt or antifreeze will lower the freezing
point. I would like to create ice at a temperature above 32 degrees
F. Is that possible?
---------------------------------------
John,

I can not think of a way to raise the freezing point of water
significantly. Dissolving anything in water will always lower
the freezing point of the resulting solution. I thought that
one could increase the freezing point of water by reducing the
pressure. However, the highest freezing temperature is a change
of +0.0098 degrees centigrade, so there is not much gain there.
Maybe some other members will have better ideas.
