Meat Bacteria

Question - My daughter is doing a science project on bacteria found
on cooked fast-food hamburgers. We purchased Easygel Pretreated Petri
Dishes and Nutrient kits from the teacher supply store and are planning
to do cultures. We are not doing a specific test or singling out any
particular bacteria. My question is this: Where should we look to find
useful information on the types of bacteria that are found in meat, and
what the safe amount would be?
-----------------
There will be bacteria on them and measuring how many is too difficult.
Certain bacteria such as coliforms should not be present.

Go to the FDA website (probably FDA.gov) or the CDC website (cdc.gov) or search under "hamburgers
and foodborne illness" at google.com. You will find plenty of information.
