The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Exchange Visitor Program accepts applications to request waiver of the two-year foreign residency requirement.

Supplement A - Research

All applications for waiver of the J-1 visa relating to research are reviewed by the HHS' Exchange Visitor Waiver Review Board.

Supplement B - Clinical Care

Physicians with J-1 visas must agree to deliver health care services for three years in mental health or primary care Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs).
