Hurricane Katrina Anti-Fraud Task Force
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, both financial institutions and customers are potentially vulnerable to a wide variety of fraud schemes, ranging from identity theft to fraudulent loan activity. The Office of Inspector General at the FDIC is a member of the United States Department of Justice's Hurricane Katrina Anti-Fraud Task Force, a government-wide effort to combat fraud in the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. Any FDIC-regulated financial institution which believes it has been the victim of fraud, or any individual who believes they are the victim of bank-related consumer fraud, may contact the OIG for assistance through the FDIC's OIG hotline as follows:

Missing Persons:
Several staff members from our Office of Investigations are working at the Center for Missing and Exploited Children in efforts to help match family members who were separated as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
