The Dietary Guidelines for Americans has been published jointly every 5 years
since 1980 by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the
Department of Agriculture (USDA). The Guidelines provide authoritative
advice for people two years and older about how good dietary habits can
promote health and reduce risk for major chronic diseases. They serve as
the basis for Federal food and nutrition education programs.
NEW: 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans
The Departments of Agriculture (USDA) and Health and Human Services (HHS) are pleased to announce their intent to establish the 2010 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC) and to invite nominations for the Committee. Please submit nominations by close of business on May 24, 2008 as instructed in the
Federal Register notice posted at
http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2008/pdf/E8-7614.pdf.
