MCN is partnering with the Center for Maternal and Infant Health at the University of North Carolina and Auger Communications, Inc. who are researching innovative ways to deliver high quality, low cost prenatal education to Latino populations. As part of this process they are surveying clinicians who are working with this population. If you receive an email from Beth Bordeau with a subject line of Teach With Stories Study: Survey on Prenatal Education for Latinas, we would appreciate your input. The survey will be sent out in late September and will take about 10-15 minutes. Each person who completes the survey is eligible to win a drawing for $500 CASH!

U.S. EPA Region Three has selected the Migrant Clinicians Network to be a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency 2008 Children's Environmental Health Champion. The Regional Children's Environmental Health Champion Awards recognize ongoing and sustainable dedication to and notable leadership in, protecting children from environmental health risks at the regional level. We will receive our official recognition at the Children's Environmental Health Awards Ceremony on the evening of October 22nd, 2008 in Washington, D.C.

This conference offers a variety of workshops and sessions designed to meet the needs of clinicians, administrators, educators, advocates, researchers, and students dedicated to serving migrant and seasonal farmworkers. The goals and objectives of the conference are: To provide a forum to examine issues related to connecting the need for partnerships between economic development and rural health among minority and multi-cultural populations; to identify the environmental and developmental challenges faced by health care agencies seeking to serve rural minority and multicultural populations; to identify the barriers and/or challenges to linking economic development and health care to rural minority and multicultural populations; and to identify best practices and methodologies toward forging partnerships among economic development and rural minority and multicultural populations.
