WASHINGTON, DC
May 12, 2003
The Air Force Centennial of Flight Office is proud to sponsor an exhibit featuring all
10 of the Air Force's major commands and prominent Air Force speakers beginning May 19 in Aviation
Hall at Festival of Flight in Fayetteville, N.C.
Festival of Flight, which runs May 16 - June 26, is the first stop on the exhibit tour featuring all major
commands, or MAJCOMs, the major subdivisions of the Air Force that perform components of the Air
Force mission. The major commands represent the functional and geographical missions that are the
foundation of today's Air Force.
The Air Force is sponsoring military and civilian speakers from every major command daily at 11:30
a.m. to speak on topics relating to the function of the MAJCOM.
The Air Force Cross into the Blue Tour will also be a featured part of the Centennial of Flight exhibit
experience. Cross into the Blue has many activities designed to entertain and educate the public
about today's Air Force, including a three minute movie detailing life in today's air and space
expeditionary force, an anti-gravity simulator and an actual F-16 fighter jet. Additionally, there are
computer games and a parachute jump simulator.
Tops in Blue, the Air Force's premier entertainment troupe, will perform at the Friday, May 16 opening
ceremony at 9 p.m. The show features a Centennial of Flight-themed song and dance medley to
entertain all ages. The troupe consists entirely of active-duty officer and enlisted military members who
compete in a yearly contest for the chance to perform.
