NEWS RELEASE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY & HEALTH REVIEW COMMISSION
THOMASINA ROGERS APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH REVIEW COMMISSION President Bill Clinton has appointed Thomasina Rogers as Chairman of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission. Ms. Rogers became a Commissioner of the independent, federal decision-making body in October, 1998, with a term expiring in April 2003. OSHRC rules on disputes emanating from safety and health inspections of American workplaces conducted under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. As agency Chairman, Ms. Rogers is additionally responsible for the administrative operations of the quasi-judicial agency. A former Chairman of the Administrative Conference of the U.S., where she served until its dissolution at the end of 1995, Ms. Rogers served for seven years in the Federal Government's Senior Executive Service (SES) prior to her Presidential appointment to the Administrative Conference in 1994. During her SES tenure, she was Legal Counsel to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, where she had primary responsibility for managing the development of the Americans With Disabilities Act employment regulations. Near the end of her SES tenure, Ms. Rogers received Presidential recognition for noteworthy public service in the management of Government programs. Ms. Rogers is an officer of the Board of Directors of Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., as well as the American Arbitration Association, and is also active with the American Bar Association. Ms. Rogers is a graduate of Northwestern University and Columbia University School of Law.
