FEC To Consider Renaissance Health Services Corporation Advisory Opinion; Cancels Travel Rules Hearing

WASHINGTON – The Federal Election Commission (FEC/the Commission) will meet on Thursday, November 15, to consider a draft Advisory Opinion (AO) in response to a request from Renaissance Health Service Corporation regarding the member status of individuals in a nonprofit organization.

A previously announced hearing scheduled for November 15 on proposed rules to implement the travel restrictions of the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007 (HLOGA) has been cancelled.  The FEC did not receive any requests to testify at a hearing. Comments received on the proposed travel rules are available http://www.fec.gov/law/law_rulemakings.shtml#travel07.

The meeting will take place at the Commission’s offices at 999 E Street N.W. in Washington, and will begin at 10:00 am.

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is an independent regulatory agency that administers and enforces federal campaign finance laws. The FEC has jurisdiction over the financing of campaigns for the U.S. House, the U.S. Senate, the Presidency and the Vice Presidency. Established in 1975, the FEC is composed of six Commissioners who are nominated by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
