FEC to Meet on September 24 to Consider Three Advisory Opinion Requests and Rules on Permitted Uses of Campaign Funds

The Federal Election Commission (FEC/ the Commission) will meet at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2007, to consider:

  • An Advisory Opinion Request (AOR) from United American Nurses, AFL-CIO regarding the disaffiliation of a labor union and professional membership organization;
  • An AOR from the Associated Builders and Contractors, the National Federation of Independent Business and the National Restaurant Association regarding a restricted class event jointly sponsored by incorporated trade associations;
  • An AOR from GMAC LLC regarding the administration of the separate segregated fund of an incorporated subsidiary by an LLC treated as a partnership; and
  • Draft Final Rules on the Use of Campaign Funds for Donations to Non-Federal Candidates and Any Other Lawful Purpose Other Than Personal Use.

The meeting will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the 9th floor hearing room at the Commission’s offices at 999 E Street, N.W. in Washington.

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is an independent regulatory agency that administers and enforces federal campaign finance laws. The FEC has jurisdiction over the financing of campaigns for the U.S. House, the U.S. Senate, the Presidency and the Vice Presidency. Established in 1975, the FEC is composed of six Commissioners who are nominated by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
