3 R’s – Reduce, Reuse, And Recycle

The 3Rs Initiative was introduced at the 2004 G8 Summit and officially launched at a Ministerial Conference in Tokyo April 2005. Its primary goals are to reduce waste, reuse and recycle resources and to reduce barriers to trade in recycled and remanufactured products and clean energy technologies.

MAS has a lead inter-agency role in the 3Rs Initiative and DAS for Manufacturing, Jamie Estrada, led the U.S. inter-agency delegation at the Senior Officials Meeting. Mr. Estrada also chaired the working group on the international flow of 3R related products. MAS/OTPA represented the United States in this working group. The White House Federal Environment Executive, Edwin Piñero, represented the United States on Working Group focusing on domestic 3R-related work.
