Guidance for New AmeriCorps National Grantees

Dear New AmeriCorps National Grantee:

I am excited to have you join the portfolio of approximately 100 AmeriCorps National programs, and the wider AmeriCorps State and National network of programs. Congratulations and welcome!

My staff and I are here to support you in the critical program start-up period. We want to assist you in laying a strong foundation to ensure the long-term success of your AmeriCorps program. The documents below, Guidance for New AmeriCorps National Grantees, highlights some of the important aspects of managing an AmeriCorps program and includes valuable tips. It also lays out the different components of our training and technical assistance plan for new AmeriCorps National grantees. An important part of that plan is the Program Start-Up Institute taking place October 10-12 in Memphis. Registration information is attached to this email.

Please review this document, along with the AmeriCorps Regulations and Provisions, as you develop the systems to support your program. The more time and effort you devote to the program in these beginning stages, the stronger your program will be and the fewer management challenges you will encounter in the long run.

I look forward to working with you and hope to see you at the institute. If I can be of assistance, please let me know.

Sincerely,
Lois Nembhard
Deputy Director, AmeriCorps State & National
