Position: International Programs Specialist
Responsibilities: David Allen oversees activities related to national/international global change research programs and provides senior level staffing support to the Chair of the Federal Interagency Working Group on International Research and Cooperation (WG/IRC). In working with the WG/IRC Chair, Allen identifies ways to improve the effectiveness of the WG/IRC and ways to improve interagency interaction regarding international global change research and research-related programs and to promote and encourage effective U.S. interaction with and support for these programs. As part of the CCSP office staff, Allen works with the office of the Director of the CCSP and Director of the CCSP Office, on a variety of tasks including drafting the international portion of CCSP communications documents, including Our Changing Planet. Allen also chairs the Staff Group of the International Group of Funding Agencies for Global Change Research (IGFA). In this capacity he: works with and advises the Chair of IGFA, presently the Assistant Director for Geosciences of the National Science Foundation, in promoting effective international implementation of global and climate change research programs; prepares technical reports, agendas, issue papers, and background materials; analyzes interagency responses; and disseminates information to those involved with and interested in IGFA, both nationally and internationally.
