NIH 4.7 Tesla Vertical Magnet System
for fMRI in non-human primates

This non-human primate MRI scanner is made by Bruker, and is being installed on the NIH campus.

The Bruker BioSpin MRI BioSpec® vertical bore magnets have been specially designed for fMRI investigations in primates. The system installed at NIH is an actively shielded 4.7T magnet. The 60cm in-diameter magnet bore size allows a 28cm in-diameter free access space for imaging.

The BioSpec® Vertical uses the same Bruker AVANCE™ digital spectrometer, workstation, and operating environment as the regular Bruker BioSpec®. The operating software is the Paravision System Software.

For better reproducibility in positioning, the system is equipped with a "sample positioning Lift", which will be inserted from the base of the magnet.
