Emergency Information

The MMS offices in Houston, Texas remain closed due to the impacts of Hurricane Ike.  While preliminary building assessments show little to no damage to our offices, utilities and access to the surrounding areas are limited. We will continue to provide updates as soon as they become available.

If you are assigned to the Houston office and have not yet contacted the Long-term Emergency Hotline (1-866-436-4667) please do so immediately.  Please continue to check the Short-term numbers, this website, and/or contact your supervisor for return-to-duty instructions.

The Lake Charles District Office will reopen on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, and employees should report at their regularly scheduled hour.

The Lake Jackson District Office will reopen at 12:00pm Central on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, and all employees should report at that time.

Employees whose individual circumstances may prevent them from reporting to work (e.g., no power, flooding, etc.) should contact their supervisor as soon as possible.  We encourage all employees to heed warnings and guidance from local authorities as you re-enter areas impacted by the storm. Please be safe.

MMS activated its Emergency Hotline (1-866-436-4667) on Saturday, September 13, 2008, to begin collecting employee whereabouts and contact information. Employees should contact us as soon as possible, but not later than 72 hours after activation. The local Short-term Emergency Lines will also provide a recorded message with operational status and return-to-duty instructions as needed. For Houston area operations call 1-800-228-2507 and for Gulf of Mexico Districts 1-877-883-7621.
