FMC Announces Appointment of New Administrative Law Judge

Chairman Steven R. Blust announced today that Clay G. Guthridge has joined the Federal Maritime Commission as an Administrative Law Judge. 

Judge Guthridge received his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law.  He worked several years as an attorney with the D.C. Neighborhood Legal Services Program and as a supervising attorney/adjunct professor with D.C. Law Students in Court before serving as a staff attorney for the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.  He then worked fifteen years as an attorney with the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice.  For the last year, Judge Guthridge has served as an Administrative Law Judge for the Social Security Administration in Dover, Delaware.

Chairman Blust remarked that: “Judge Guthridge's experience and talent make him a welcome addition to the Commission, and I look forward to working with him.” 

Chairman Blust also noted with regret the recent resignation of Administrative Law Judge Kenneth A. Krantz who will leave the Commission at the beginning of September since he has accepted employment as an Aministrative Law Judge at another federal agency. Chairman Blust stated "Judge Krantz will be missed. Although he was only with the Commission for a short time, he will leave a lasting favorable impression."
