Robert Peterson, Assistant Inspector General

Robert Peterson is currently serving as Assistant Inspector General for Inspections in the Office of Inspector General. He has been assigned to the Department of State's Office of Inspector General since 1987.

Mr. Peterson previously worked for the U.S. Army Audit Agency in St. Louis, Missouri (1973 - 1977), the Department of Defense Office of Inspector General in Washington, DC (1977 - 1984), and the U.S. Information Agency Office of Inspector General in Washington, DC (1984 -- 1987), before joining the State Department. He has inspected well over 100 posts and a number of bureaus.

Mr. Peterson graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1973 with a B.S. in Accounting. He received his Masters degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University in 1980. He is a certified internal auditor.
