CHARLES MORGAN RETIRES AS ADMINISTRATIVE LAW JUDGE

After 58 years of government service, Administrative Law Judge Charles E. Morgan has retired from the Federal Maritime Commission. Born and educated in Washington, D.C., Judge Morgan joined the federal government in 1939 with the National Guard Bureau of the War Department, later transferring to the Interstate Commerce Commission. After serving overseas in World War II in the Signal Corps of the 8th Air Force, where he earned six battle stars, he rejoined the Interstate Commerce Commission and became a hearing examiner in 1951. He transferred to the Federal Maritime Board in 1959, and has been an administrative law judge with the FMC since 1961. From April 1986 to February 1992, Judge Morgan was chief administrative law judge.

Commission Chairman Harold J. Creel, Jr. praised Judge Morgan stating: "Judge Morgan has distinguished himself throughout his years of public service. In a federal career that spanned seven decades, he demonstrated a dedication to duty and pursuit of excellence that can be matched by few. I commend him for his significant contributions to the FMC and his country, and on behalf of all Commission employees and the entire maritime community, I say a sincere thank you and best wishes for a lengthy and fulfilling retirement."
