The Clarence King Memorial Library serves as headquarters for the USGS Library System. The collection contains U.S. and foreign books, maps, and journals in earth sciences, life sciences, engineering, and computer science. Special collections include the George F. Kunz collection of rare books on gems and minerals. Additional holdings information is available on the Special Collections page of the Library web site.

From the Capital Beltway:

• Take the exit for Dulles Airport/Toll Road (Route 267).
  • Exit on right if using the Outer Loop.
  • Exit on left if using the Inner Loop.
• Take Route 267 approximately 8 miles to Reston Parkway (Exit 12).
• After the toll booth, turn left on Reston Parkway.
• At the second light turn right on Sunrise Valley Drive.
• Travel 1/2 mile on Sunrise Valley Drive and turn left at the sign for the USGS.
• Follow signs to Visitor Parking.
• Enter the building at the doors closest to Visitor Parking.
• You will need to show identification and sign the visitors' log.
• The library is on the first floor adjacent to the auditorium.

From Dulles Airport:

• Travel east toward Washington, D.C. on Dulles Airport/Toll Road (Route 267).
• At Exit 11 merge right onto the Fairfax County Parkway.
• At the light, turn left on Sunrise Valley Drive.
• Travel 1/2 mile on Sunrise Valley Drive and turn right at the sign for the USGS.
• Follow signs to Visitor Parking.
• Enter the building at the doors closest to Visitor Parking.
• You will need to show identification and sign the visitors' log.
• The library is on the first floor adjacent to the auditorium.
