Fulton
J. Sheen was born May 8, 1895, in El Paso, Illinois.
He was ordained in the priesthood in 1919. Monsignor
Fulton J. Sheen was assigned to Catholic University
in Washington, D.C. in 1944 as a Professor of
Philosophy. In 1950, Fulton J. Sheen resigned
from Catholic University after 23 years of teaching
to head the "Pontifical Mission Aid Societies
in the United States." In May of 1951, Pope Pius
XII appointed Msgr. Fulton J. Sheen as Bishop
of Caesariana and Auxiliary to Francis Cardinal
Spellman, Archbishop of New York. On June 12,
1953, Bishop Fulton J. Sheen was the speaker
at the Fifty-first Session graduation exercises
of the FBI National Academy. On April 8, 1956,
Bishop Fulton Sheen was the principal speaker
at the FBI Communion Breakfast. In October of
1966, Sheen was appointed as Bishop of the Rochester,
NY Diocese.
