New resources for the logging of water wells are available by clicking here.

Welcome to the home page for the Bureau of Topographic and Geologic Survey, or the “Pennsylvania Geological Survey.” Thousands of water wells are drilled in Pennsylvania every year. Since 1966, drillers have been required to submit water well completion information describing the location and construction parameters of those water wells. The driller must submit information on the construction details through our WebDriller internet site or, until June 1, 2009, by using the water well completion form. Starting June 1, 2009, all records must be submitted through WebDriller. We have developed new web pages to provide guidance for more accurate well logs. In addition, county rock type maps, which may be of interest to a wide range of viewers, are included with these new web pages, here, at www.dcnr.state.pa.us/topogeo.
