Title:  Aging Aircraft-K.B. Probe
Description:  The Crack Finder is a commercially available instrument developed from NASA technology. The device uses the NASA Langley Research Center developed Self-Nulling Eddy Current Probe in order to detect fatigue cracks in conducting materials. The Self-Nulling (or Simpson Probe) Technology enables the device to be manufactured in a very small package and eliminates complicated calibration and test setup procedures which are common with other eddy-current techniques. The photograph shows a 1/2 inch Probe attached to the Crack Finder Instrument and the complete operating manual (on laminated card). The Self-Nulling Probe Technology has been licensed to Krautkramer Branson for Commercialization.
