Overview:
Review of controls is integral to performance auditing. Controls are critical for mission accomplishment, achieving program goals, complying with laws and regulations, acquiring and safeguarding resources, and delivering quality goods and services. You learn the relationship of controls to risk processes and systems. Also you learn the prerequisites for good controls, techniques for assessing the design and implementation of controls, a step-by-step process for planning an audit of controls (including formulation of objectives and selection of the scope and methodology), the relationship of control weaknesses to the elements of a finding, and incorporation of findings into audit reports.
