SOFTWARE

MASTER data are stored in hierarchial data format (hdf). Several commercial and freeware packages are available that allow the user to easily import MASTER data. These include

WEBWINDS

A free Java visualization and analysis package, able to subset and
subsample large image data files on Unix, Mac and PC platforms. Script
files will soon be available for automatic session configuration, once
WebWinds has been downloaded. Link to WEBWINDS

ENVI

This is a commerical package developed by Research Systems that automatically ingests MASTER hdf data complete with wavelength information. Link to ENVI

FREELOOK

Also available from the makes of ENVI, Freelook is a free package that allows you to view MASTER hdf data. Link to FREELOOK

SHARP

This is a free package developed by Liam Gumley. However, you must have a copy of IDL in order to run SHARP. IDL is also available from RSI. Link to SHARP

General Format Description

For a general description of the hdf format and how to unpack MASTER hdf data take a look at the information on the MODIS Airborne Simulator (MAS) which uses the same data format as MASTER.
