The
Center for Constitutional Rights was originally known
as the Civil Rights Legal Defense Fund, Incorporated.
The name was changed to Law Center for Constitutional
Rights on February 16, 1967. The Law Center for Constitutional
Rights is a Tax Exempt Corporation. This group vowed to
assist and support defense committees that would give
aid to political prisoners. This organization was located
at 116 Market Street, Newark, New Jersey. It was staffed
by lawyers who were going to donate time to persons who
could not afford legal representation. They protested
the United States presence in Vietnam.
