Summary: Chairman Kelliher to testify on Summer Electric Reliability Issues
Description: House Government Reform Subcommittee on Energy and Resources will conduct an oversight hearing entitled, “Can the U.S. Electric Grid Take Another Hot Summer?”

The hearing will examine electricity reliability issues highlighted in the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Summer Energy Market Assessment 2006 [PDF] which notes four major geographical areas with potentially critical electricity supply issues:
  1. Southern California;
  2. Long Island;
  3. New York; and
  4. Ontario, Canada
which affects U.S. states in the Great Lakes region and Southwest Connecticut.
