MISSION

The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Continental United States (CONUS) will plan, provision, engineer, implement, field, and support global net-centric solutions and provide the day-to-day technical operation, control and management of the portions of the Global Information Grid that support Global Operations but are not assigned to a Combatant Commander.

FUNCTIONS

Business Management Division (RN1)
  • Develops and maintains CONUS tactics, techniques, and procedures. Develops and coordinates enterprise business strategy and practices.
Mission Support Branch (RN11)
  • Manages and maintains organizational Information Security, Physical Security, Personnel Security, Industrial Security, Operations Security, Anti-terrorism/Force Protection, and Security Education/Awareness programs.
  • Manages and maintains organizational Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and SCI facility (SCIF) management programs.
  • Manages and maintains organizational Communications Security management, Secure Voice, and Cryptographic Access programs.
  • Manages, plans, and develops all requirements relative to facility construction, maintenance, and management.
  • Manages and maintains 100% control and accountability of all DISA CONUS-owned equipment, assets, and property.
Resource Management Branch (RN12)
  • Manages organizational budget, manpower, and personnel.
  • Manages unit awards and decorations program.
  • Manages unit training program.
  • Manages unit financial actions, procurement, and fund management.
Policy and Procedures Branch (RN13)
  • Develops and maintains intra-organizational tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • Develops and coordinates enterprise business strategies and practices.
  • Manages public affairs relations.
Systems Integration Division (RN2)
  • Initiates, plans, coordinates, and supervises internal and external projects impacting CONUS operations, operations support, and operations service support, using an enterprise approach and ensuring efforts are synchronized with CONUS strategic goals.
Operations Plans Branch (RN21)
  • Initiates, plans, coordinates, and supervises internal and external projects affecting CONUS operations, using an enterprise approach, and ensuring efforts are synchronized with CONUS strategic goals.
  • Interfaces, coordinates, and supports DISA Headquarters initiatives for inter and intra theater implementation.
  • Develops and supports inter-organizational tactics, techniques, and procedures for projects impacting CONUS operations.
Operations Support Plans Branch (RN22)
  • Initiates, plans, coordinates, and supervises internal and external projects affecting CONUS operations support, using an enterprise approach, and ensuring efforts are synchronized with CONUS strategic goals.
  • Interfaces, coordinates, and supports DISA Headquarters initiatives for inter and intra theater implementation.
  • Develops and supports inter-organizational tactics, techniques, and procedures for projects affecting CONUS operations support.
  • Manages and reports on Balanced Scorecard initiatives and performs Joint Quarterly Readiness Reviews for CONUS and theater program management.
DISN Operations Division (RN3)
  • Leads and manages the CONUS Global Network Operations (NetOps) Support Center in order to execute centralized management of the CONUS Global Information Grid and inter-theater NetOps by coordinating and directing actions to operate, maintain, defend, and secure net-centric services in support of the Combatant Commands, Service Branches, and other DoD agencies.
ASI Branch (RN31)
  • Facilitates systematic maintenance of the CONUS Global Information Grid by planning, coordinating, notifying, and monitoring Authorized Service Interruptions (ASIs) for the Combatant Commands, Service Branches, and other DoD agencies.
  • Coordinates ASIs with other theaters, to include Southwest Asia, Europe, and Pacific theaters.
Network Operations Branch (RN32)
  • Leads and manages the CONUS Global Network Operations Support Center, which is responsible for executing centralized management of the CONUS Global Information Grid (GIG) and inter-theater Network Operations.
  • Coordinates and directs actions to operate, maintain, defend, and secure net-centric services in support of the Combatant Commands, Services Branch, and other DoD agencies.
  • Provides GIG reports and situational awareness to customers at all levels.
Information Assurance Branch (RN33)
  • Monitors, reports, and provides Computer Network Defense and Information Assurance services and support for CONUS and inter-theater portions of the Global Information Grid as an integral component of DoD's Defense-in-Depth, in support of CONUS Combatant Commands, DISA Computing Services, and other DoD organizations.
Contingency & Exercise Branch (RN34)
  • Plans and coordinates reach-back Defense Information Systems Network services, through the Gateway Access Request and Gateway Access Authorization process, in support of deployed DoD users within the CONUS and Southwest Asia theaters.
DISN Engineering Division (RN5)
  • Engineering, implementation, test, and provide technical support for CONUS and inter-theatre Transport, IP, and Services portions of the Global Information Grid.
Transport Branch (RN51)
  • Provides engineering, implementation, test, and technical support for CONUS and inter-theatre transport portions of the Global Information Grid.
  • Conducts engineering analysis, modeling, fault isolation, configuration management, network performance, security, and determines network modifications.
  • Engineers and implements reach-back DISN services, through the Gateway Access Request and Gateway Access Authorization process, in support of deployed DoD users within CONUS and Southwest Asia theaters.
IP Services Branch (RN52)
  • Provides engineering, implementation, test, and technical support for CONUS and inter-theatre IP portions of the Global Information Grid.
  • Conducts engineering analysis, modeling, fault isolation, configuration management, network performance, security, and determines network modifications.
  • Engineers and implements reach-back DISN services, through the Gateway Access Request and Gateway Access Authorization process, in support of deployed DoD users within CONUS and Southwest Asia theaters.
Switched Services Branch (RN53)
  • Provides engineering, implementation, test, and technical support for CONUS and inter-theatre Services portions of the Global Information Grid.
  • Conducts engineering analysis, modeling, fault isolation, configuration management, network performance, security, and determines network modifications.
  • Engineers and implements reach-back DISN services, through the Gateway Access Request and Gateway Access Authorization process, in support of deployed DoD users within CONUS and Southwest Asia theaters.
Quality Assurance Branch (RN54)
  • Conducts performance evaluations and quality assurance for the CONUS AOR. Provides on-site implementation for transport and IP services.
  • Provides trouble resolution of DISN and customer services.
Information Systems Division (RN6)
  • Responsible for the availability, integrity, authenticity, confidentiality and non-repudiation of all data supporting the CONUS and the Global Network Operations Support Center.
  • Provides all mission essential organizational data, voice, and video information services within CONUS.
  • Provides information systems security for all systems within CONUS.
INFRASTRUCTURE Support Branch (RN61)
  • Provides technical support for desktops, software, and hardware.
  • Provides LAN support in planning, designing, installation, maintenance of internal network.
  • Liaison with Base host unit and DISA Headquarters.
  • Provides telephone and VTC support.
Systems Administration Branch (RN62)
  • Provides Information Assurance Management - IAVA/VMs compliance oversight; network accreditation maintenance; CTO coordination and reporting.
  • Provides systems and network administration for the operations enclave, including element management systems, operations enclave network devices, and information assurance within the enclave.
  • Provides system administration for the office automation enclave including DISANet assets (MS Office tools, e-mail), DISA CONUS assets (web, applications, and file servers), and information assurance within the enclave.
Network INTEGRATION Branch (RN63)
  • Provides software, database, and web support.
  • Provides NMS support (INMS/TMS/RMS/ICATS).
  • Provides network management and monitoring.
Customer Support Division (RN7)
  • Serves as the day-to-day interface at the access level to assist the seven Combatant Commands, their components, key sites, and other DoD/non-DoD agencies, customers and suppliers in bridging DISA products and services.
  • Evaluates, validates, allocates resources, orders and implements service world-wide to the appropriate service networks, transport networks, or commercial leased long-haul communications networks world-wide.
  • Provides strategic support and partnership on transition/project management, facilitating full and open communications and satisfaction in the sustainment/provisioning of the customers telecommunications requirements.
  • Assesses customer impact during critical outages and promotes situational awareness and support during Crisis Action Team/Tiger Team activations.
  • Provides and maintains the Customers operational source data for DoD's global DISN.
Western Region Branch (RN71)
  • Reviews, coordinates, evaluates processes, manages, and tracks customer requirements for communications services and equipment.
  • Implements provisioning directives, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensures requirements are validated, funded, complete, accurate, and provides audit trail.
  • Tracks orders to ensure service dates are met and billing actions are completed. Evaluates, validates, allocates resources, orders, and implements service to the appropriate service networks, transport, or commercial leased long-haul communications networks.
  • Develops cost effective, technically correct, operationally responsive, compliant solutions.
  • Applies technical solutions based on established policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Engineers/allocates appropriate DISN solutions.
  • Coordinates with government and commercial activities on interface criteria, design, and implementation.
  • Issues timely, accurate provisioning documents.
  • Serves as the day-to-day interface and customer advocate with other DISA elements, commercial vendors, and others on issues and concerns relative to customer communications requirements.
  • Responds to inquiries via telephone, e-mail, written correspondence, or personal contacts.
  • Helps customers develop/submit Telecommunications Service Requests.
Central Region Branch (RN72)
  • Reviews, coordinates, evaluates processes, manage, and tracks customer requirements for communications services and equipment.
  • Implements provisioning directives, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensures requirements are validated, funded, complete, accurate, and provides audit trail.

  • Tracks orders to ensure service dates are met and billing actions are completed.

  • Transitions voice/data/video circuits and services from existing commercial contracts and technologies to DISN common-user services or new commercial contracts in accordance with OSD policy and DISN process.
  • Coordinates and implements service to the appropriate service networks, transport networks, or commercial leased long-haul communications networks world-wide.
  • Provides strategic support and partnership on transition/project management, facilitating full and open communications and satisfaction in the sustainment/provisioning of the customers telecommunications requirements.
Customer Focus Branch (RN76)
  • Performs telecommunications oriented customer service for DISA CONUS customer base.
  • Improves customer experience with products and services from DISN.
  • Assists customers in managing the DISA provided telecommunication services. Provides end-to-end visibility for customer requirements through project management.
  • Elevates and keeps important customer issues on "front burner".
  • Engages with customers, on a daily basis, to assist or resolve issues with: billing/pricing, contracting, engineering, needs assessment, operations, ordering & implementation, transition services, training (applications, processes), circuit research/tracking.
  • Provides comprehensive DISA Direct Order Entry interface for customers. Serves as the day-to-day interface and customer advocate with other DISA elements, commercial vendors, and others on issues and concerns relative to customer communications requirements.
