MISSION

The Defense Information Systems Agency, U.S. Central Command is responsible for planning, engineering, protecting and supporting global net-centric solutions and operating the Global Information Grid to serve the needs of the Combatant Commander, Component Commanders, and other Agencies under conditions of peace and war.

MAJOR RESPONSABILITIES

  • Direct support to USCENTCOM
  • Manage and sustain the Domain 30 IDNX, Voice, NIPR, SIPR networks, plus
    DISN Video Services and CENTRIXS (near term future)
  • Maintain situational awareness and report all aspects of the GIG architecture supporting the
    CENTRAL Area of operations
  • Manage service interruptions and restore critical services IAW the J6's priorities
  • Coordinate and install critical GIG nodes in support of contingency operations
  • Manages Theater NetOps

FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures Central Region infrastructure is responsive, flexible, robust, and reliable, and
    managed in compliance with standards
  • Interface for DISA GIG Ops, Combat Service, and Engineering support
  • Provides subject matter expertise to ensure DISN service performance and capacity meet
    requirements
  • Focal Point to coordinate initiatives and requirements between DISA and CENTCOM/Components
  • Manages site and node level projects (Arifjan DVS, Camp Victory TCF and DRSN)
  • Plans, engineers, and manages support to contingency and exercise operations in Central
    Region
  • Supports implementation of CENTCOM requirements to the TIG
  • Provides DISA inputs to CENTCOM OPLANs
  • Provides technical advice and assistance in the engineering, planning, implementation, and operational use of DISA-related resources and infrastructure to the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), the Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE), and the 6th Communication Squadron.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

The Commander of DISA Central reports directly to and receives operational direction from the Principal Director for GIG Operations.
