8.1 The Office of Law Enforcement Services, located in Albuquerque, NM, with liaison staff in Washington, DC, is under the supervision and direction of the Director. The Director is the line officer for the Bureau law enforcement services program and is responsible for all headquarters and field activities associated with the direction, coordination, support, and operation of law enforcement programs. This includes uniformed police services, detention operations, and criminal investigations of alleged or suspected violations of major Federal criminal statutes in Indian country. The Director's staff conducts investigations of alleged misconduct or violations of law by Bureau or tribal law enforcement personnel and coordinates with law enforcement organizations on the national level.

8.2 The Division of Operations provides assistance to the Director in the development of policies, procedures and guidance and provides technical assistance to district commanders and Indian tribes relating to the law enforcement program. The Division is responsible for conducting operations involving the investigation and prosecution of violation of Federal drug statutes. The Division supervises District Commanders who administer the law enforcement services program within their designated districts and provide direct supervision and technical assistance to the law enforcement field offices within their jurisdiction. Law enforcement District Offices are located in Aberdeen, SD, Albuquerque, NM, Billings, MT, Muskogee, OK, and Phoenix, AZ. Staff at the district level conducts or ensures the conduct of inspections and evaluations of all Bureau law enforcement programs, including uniformed police services, adult and juvenile detention services, and criminal investigations.

8.3 The Division of Administration provides assistance to the Director in the direction and management of administrative support services for the law enforcement program. This includes providing technical assistance to district commanders on administrative matters and monitoring and evaluating administrative activities at field locations. The Division is also responsible for the Indian Police Academy, located at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia, NM, which provides initial and continuing law enforcement training for Bureau and tribal law enforcement personnel; for the collection and management of criminal justice data in the Law Enforcement Management Information System for all Indian reservations having Federal/tribal civil or criminal jurisdiction; and for coordination of various administrative programs with federal, tribal, state, county and municipal officials.
