OIG Semiannual Report Highlights 20 Years of History and $25 Million Settlement
The TVA OIG has released its semiannual report to Congress.  The report outlines OIG accomplishments from October 1, 2007, through March 31, 2008, and includes a summary of the largest recovery in OIG history of $25 million from Kinder Morgan, an energy company that handles and transports coal.  “It’s been an exciting and productive six months for us,” Inspector General Richard Moore said.  “The resolution of the case against Kinder Morgan is a result of the excellent work of our highly skilled staff, and the momentous recovery benefits TVA as well as other Kinder Morgan customers.”  Moore continued, “What’s especially interesting about this edition of our semiannual is the insightful chronicling of the past 20 years of visionary leadership spearheaded by our previous IGs.  It is their collective vision that has transformed this office into what it is today.”  To view a copy of our latest semiannual report, click here.

BRINGING POWER
TO THE PEOPLE
A message from the IG

The OIG is charged with promoting economy and efficiency while preventing and detecting fraud, waste, and abuse affecting TVA.  Although thousands of TVA employees and contractors are hardworking and honest, there are those few who will be tempted to cheat the agency in one way or another.  TVA employees, contractors, and the public can help make a difference at TVA by reporting any suspicions about fraud, waste, and abuse to the OIG hotline system, known as the Empowerline.  As an incentive, individuals who provide information about fraud which leads to a felony charge or significant monetary recovery may receive a financial reward.  We think it’s just good business to help those who help us put a stop to fraud affecting TVA.
