Newly Submitted

  • AAN has released a new assessment on the use of natalizumab (Tysabri) for the treatment of multiple sclerosis.
  • ICSI has updated their guidelines on routine prenatal care.
  • PEBC has updated the following guidelines:
    • Preoperative or postoperative therapy for the management of patients with stage II or III rectal cancer
    • Preoperative or postoperative therapy for resectable esophageal cancer

AHRQ News

A new Web-based Glossary, developed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, offers an important reference tool for researchers, consumers, clinicians, insurers and others seeking information about the burgeoning science of comparative effectiveness. The new glossary was developed through the John M. Eisenberg Clinical Decisions and Communications Science Center, which is part of the AHRQ's Effective Health Care program.

Conference News

  • An AHRQ-sponsored Web conference on "Using Clinical Decision Support to Make Informed Patient Care Decisions" will be held on September 19, 2008, from 3:30 pm-5:00 pm EDT. The first in a series of four teleconferences on clinical decision support, this teleconference will address how clinical decision support – a clinical system, application, or process that helps health professionals make good patient care decisions – can help professionals improve the care delivered to patients. Registration is free.
  • The 5th annual Guidelines International Network (G-I-N) conference, will be held October 1-3, 2008. Register online now. The theme of the conference is "Implementation in Practice." Special focus will be given to guideline implementation, collaboration in guideline production, evidence in guidelines, and guidelines and power.
