IT Electronic Books

NetLibrary EBooks

The NIST Research Library subscribes to a collection of current information technology ebooks from NetLibrary. Browse the titles in the collection in the Online Catalog, or search full-text from the NetLibrary home page. NetLibrary ebooks feature a checkout function. To checkout a NetLibrary book, click on the "eContent Details" tab after opening the item to view. You will need to create a free account. It is not necessary to checkout a NetLibrary book in order to view it, however checking out the book will guarantee that you have exclusive access for the next 24 hours. Each book is available to only one user at a time. By creating an account, you will also be able to access the book from anywhere, including outside the NIST campus.

O'Reilly Open Books

IT publisher O'Reilly has made several ebooks freely available on the World Wide Web as part of the O'Reilly Open Books project. O'Reilly's Open Books include titles published under open copyright agreements, as well as some out-of-print titles that are still relevant. Browse titles of interest to NIST in the Online Catalog. For more information see the O'Reilly Open Books Website.

Advanced Networking, IT, and High-End Computing Virtual Collection

This virtual collection is a list of resources supporting NIST's work in this national research priority area. Browse the Advanced Networking, IT, and High-End Computing Virtual Collection in the Online Catalog.

IT Security Collection

In collaboration with the Information Technology Security and Networking Division of the Office of the NIST Chief Information Officer, the NIST Research Library has created a special collection called the IT Security Collection. These are titles necessary for an Information Technology Security Certification Program, which will result in a security certification examination for those who are part of this process. Items in this collection appear in the Online Catalog with the location "IT Security Collection (Reference)". Circulation time is one week with one renewal. The Collection is located in front of the regular Reference Collection on the main floor of the Library. Browse the IT Security Collection in the Online Catalog.
