Detailed Search

The National Guideline Clearinghouse™ (NGC) Detailed Search is designed to help you create very specific search queries based on the various attributes found in the Guideline Summary Sheet.

The Detailed Search helps you limit your searches to a particular target population group or a particular publication date range. This feature also allows you to search for guidelines that incorporate a particular development methodology and/or incorporate information such as a clinical algorithm.

Entering/selecting your criteria

The Detailed Search contains several ways to enter or select terms, including:

Note: Entering or selecting two or more different criteria will automatically join the criteria together, creating a narrower search.

For example:

What is searched?

Entering/selecting terms in the Searches
Disease query box The disease/condition concepts (see concept mapping) and/or the Disease/Condition text field.
Intervention query box The treatment/intervention concepts (see concept mapping) and/or the Interventions and Practices Considered text field.
Guideline Category multi-select box The Guideline Categories (e.g., Diagnosis, Treatment, Prevention) that have been linked to the guideline.

We recommend that you enter criteria into the Intervention query box OR select a value(s) from the multi-select box. Entering criteria in both may produce a search query that is too narrow to yield useful results.
Organization query box The Guideline Developer(s), Guideline Endorser(s), and the Issuing Organization(s) linked to each guideline. You can use full names, partial phrases or words, initialisms, or acronyms to search this field.

Organization Type multi-select box The Organization Types (e.g., Clinical Specialty Society, Managed Care Organization, Professional Association, Federal Government Agency [U.S.]) that have been linked to the guideline.
