Be a HireVetsFirst Employer

Dear Employer:

As a company familiar with and supportive of the mission of the President’s National Hire Veterans Committee, you can help advance the cause by participating in a project that the committee and the National Committee for the Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) are undertaking to honor veterans in the workforce. We ask you to consider how your participation will benefit your firm, veterans, and the business community at large.

A veteran is a trained and trainable person who can have a strong impact on your workforce. And when a member of the Guard or Reserve re-enters your employment, he or she is a better person for having served to protect our national security. In fact, an honorable discharge means a veteran has not only served us well, but has prepared himself or herself to work toward our future economic security.

With a record of hiring veterans, and as a veteran-friendly employer who displays the V-Check symbol, you know how well veterans perform. Consider how to recognize and celebrate the veterans among your employees. To help enhance veterans’ opportunities elsewhere in corporate America, we ask you to recognize them on Labor Day. Select one or several of your veteran employees to be profiled in a story timed to coincide with Labor Day. Let people in your community and industry know that you consider veterans to be vital to your workforce. Your participation is valued and important.
