TRANSFORMATIONAL TENETS

  • Operational Accountability
We ensure our customers are aware of upcoming capabilities and the DISA team understands and addresses customer operational concerns in the fielding of DISA products and services. Every DISA employee takes ownership of customer issues as though they were his or her own and shares the customer's sense of urgency in resolving these issues.
  • Innovative, Integrated Solutions Supporting the Warfighter
Innovative integrated solutions are products and services developed with an awareness of the mission and the most advanced technologies, techniques and leading edge products. This means providing solutions under a single concept or management structure that includes the talent and resources from several parts of DISA. We apply our collective talents to collaboratively provide non-traditional ways of solving customer problems and satisfying requirements.
  • Operational and Strategic Agility
The ability to respond quickly and effectively across our full spectrum of missions, to adjust to changes in technology, environment and requirements and to evaluate the need for and embrace positive changes in the way we do our job. We think strategically but act tactically.
  • Employee Well-Being and Workforce Planning
Create and foster an environment to attract, develop, motivate and retain people having the skills necessary to perform current and future DISA missions.
  • Customer Advocacy
The Customer is at the Center of DISA: DISA is customer centric--we are focused on supporting the warfighters, those who support them, and our other valued customers. We know our customers, we listen to them, and we provide the solutions they need. We establish, maintain, and expand partnerships, and we team with our customers and with our associates from industry.
  • Empowering Employees with Knowledge
We foster an information sharing culture. We work collaboratively to ensure that intellectual assets, information, and data are captured, organized, shared, and reused throughout the agency to more successfully meet our organizational goals and customer requirements.
  • Innovative Partnerships with Commercial Providers
We establish and maintain excellent partnerships with the vendors that provide "best value" products and services for our customers. We foster a win-win relationship between the government and industry whereby the government gets more than the face value of a contract. We use innovative ways to enhance the relationship between DISA and our private sector partners to expedite the acquisition process and save money.
  • Best-Value Financial Stewardship
We ensure government resources are used efficiently and effectively to achieve intended results. The essence of best value is the continuous improvement in service quality, linked with an appropriate regime of performance indicators and efficiency measures. Financial stewardship ensures resources are used consistent with the DISA mission in compliance with law and regulation and with minimal potential for waste, fraud, and mismanagement.
  • World-Class Systems Engineering
Systems engineering includes defining user requirements, transforming these into a description of system configuration and system performance parameters and the explicit consideration of technology and component choices. It considers reliability, maintainability, management, threat and cost. To ensure it is world class, we must develop and sustain a highly skilled engineering workforce and foster a disciplined approach to systems engineering.
  • World-Class Acquisition
The objective of the Acquisition process is to acquire quality products that satisfy user needs and provide measurable improvements to mission capability at a fair and reasonable cost. We ensure our products and services employ appropriate acquisition strategies, disciplines, and oversight mechanisms tailored to yield timely, best value delivery of horizontally integrated net-centric capabilities.
