List of Variant Alleles

The Forensic/Human Identity Team at the National Institute of Standards and Technology collects and posts non-published variant alleles, which are being observed on a regular basis as STR typing is expanding. Each allele is presented in a table showing:

  • Allele designation
  • Allele size
  • Instrument
  • Amp kit
  • Contributor
  • Verification/conformation method(s)
  • Notes
  • Frequency
