Illinois to Hold a Special Primary Election on February 5, 2008 for Representative in Congress from the 14th District

On Tuesday, February 5, 2008 there will be a special primary election in 14th Congressional District of Illinois to fill the seat of Representative Dennis Hastert. To determine if your legal residence is in the 14th Congressional District, consult the U.S. House of Representatives site. The winners of this special primary election will compete in a special general election to be held on Saturday, March 8, 2008.

Voters who are Illinois residents from the 14th District and have already requested a ballot for the Presidential and State Primary on February 5, 2008 will automatically receive this ballot, and do not need to take any further action. Because this is a partisan primary election, you must indicate your party affiliation (either Democrat, Republican, or Green) when requesting for your ballot. The County Clerk or Board of Election Commissioners must receive your request for an absentee ballot not later than Monday, January 28, 2008.

Remember to submit your Voter Registration/Absentee Ballot Request form to your local election official as soon as possible. If you have not received your state ballot complete the Back-up Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot and return it as soon as possible. For additional information check your state's instructions on www.fvap.gov or visit Illinois' State Election Site.
