The Compilation and Management of a Comprehensive U.S. Y-STR Reference Database

Y-STR haplotype frequencies are required to provide a statistical estimate of the significance of a match. The National Center for Forensic Science is in the process of compiling and consolidating the existing Y-STR data from government, commercial, and academic resources throughout the United States to create the first comprehensive and expandable National U.S. Y-STR Haplotype Reference Database.

The Y-STR Reference Database is being compiled and managed by the National Center for Forensic Science, a member of the Forensic Resource Network (FRN). The FRN—a  program of the Office of Justice Programs' National Institute of Justice—provides innovative solutions to challenges facing the forensic science community.
