Lynn Young

Lynn Young began playing old time music while he was a forestry student at Virginia Tech, where he graduated in 1967. He worked 38 years with the Forest Service in the Southern and Rocky Mountain Regions where he held positions in timber sales, conservation education, and public affairs. He was District Ranger in Arkansas, North Carolina and Colorado. Throughout his career he often found ways to use music to convey conservation messages. He plays fiddle, banjo, harmonica and several other instruments.

Since his retirement in 2004, he has continued to travel and perform with the Fiddlin' Foresters to provide audiences with a better understanding of their role in resource conservation. He believes that music speaks directly to the heart and Fiddlin' Foresters is a great way to convey lasting messages that will have meaning for the future. He currently lives in Buffalo, Wyoming with his wife Shawn. He has four grown children.
