County Wage and Salary Summary CA34, 1969-2006

New estimates for 2006 and revised estimates for 2004-2005 are now available for the following local area series: Wage and salary disbursements, which accounts for approximately 55 percent of personal income at the national level; wage and salary employment; and average wage per job. All three series are presented on a place-of-work basis for counties and metropolitan areas. The employment measure is of the number of jobs, full-time plus part-time.

BEA's local area estimates are based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) on employment and wages for workers covered by State unemployment insurance (UI) and unemployment compensation for Federal employees (UCFE). In order to provide complete coverage for all wages and salaries earned in the United States, the UI and UCFE data are adjusted for wages and salaries from employment not covered by UI and UCFE programs and for underreporting and misreporting under these programs.1

The estimates are presented in an interactive web application where you may choose any of the three components of CA34 for years 1969-2006. Additionally below you will find the county and metropolitan area estimates of total wage and salary disbursements, total wage and salary employment, and average wage per job for 1969-2006 are contained in a compressed archive, which must be uncompressed before use. After uncompressing the file, please read the file readme.txt. Spreadsheet importing tips are available.
