| Learn all you need to know to ensure that your personnel actions fully comply with all current and applicable laws, rules and regulations for those individuals entitled to veterans' preference, including veterans and their spouses, widows/widowers and mothers. You learn who meets the definition of veteran; who is entitled to veterans' preference in employment in the competitive civil service and in the excepted service; and the circumstances under which veterans' preference applies, including competitive appointments, noncompetitive appointments and merit promotion under the Veterans Employment Opportunities Act.
During this three-week recorded (on-demand) online course, you progress through the entire course as a class; however, you complete the weekly assignments at your own pace and schedule. Weekly assignments typically include reviewing recorded lectures, completing assigned readings and instructional exercises, and participating in interactive discussion forums. The interactive discussion forums-led by the instructor- enable you to explore and apply the course content to your job, receive feedback and guidance from the instructor, and learn from the other class participants.
