Scientist Emeritus Al Merewether.

Dallas Peck Outstanding Scientist Emeritus Award is a Geology Discipline award that recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of a scientist while working under a Geology Scientist Emeritus agreement. Although the award will be given annually, a Scientist Emeritus can only receive the Peck award once.


Criteria for selection:
  • Senior authorship of a major publication or outreach product
  • Accomplishment of a particularly difficult or important assignment in a manner that reflects favorably on the Geologic Discipline and Bureau
  • Innovations of significance which further Bureau programs
  • Development of a new procedure or process that results in substantially increased productivity, efficiency or economy of operation
  • Mentorship of young scientists
  • Other service to the broader scientific community

Excelling in any one of these categories is sufficient to be considered for the award.

Selection:

Nominations are reviewed by a panel that consists of three Team Chief Scientists, three Scientists Emeriti, one Program Coordinator, and the Scientist Emeritus awards coordinator.
