Scientist Emeritus Best Publication Awards
Scientist Emeritus Al Merewether.
Three regional Scientist Emeritus Best Publication Awards are awarded each year. For the purpose of this exercise, Alaska will be in the Western Region and Florida in the Eastern Region. The publication need not have been published in the last year but must be for work that was published while a scientist was working under a USGS Scientist Emeritus agreement.
Criteria for selection:
- Whether or not the publication was consistent with the work outlined in the Scientist Emeritus agreement
- How the publication contributes to advancing the USGS mission
- The role of the Scientist Emeritus in the publication
- The publication's impact (short-term and long-term or anticipated long-term)
Selection:
Nominations are reviewed by a panel that consists of three Team Chief Scientists, three Scientists Emeriti, one Program Coordinator, and the Scientist Emeritus awards coordinator.
