National Economic Accounts Conferences and Meetings
BEA Government Statistics Users Conference, 2006
BEA held a Government Statistics Users Conference on Thursday, September 14, 2006, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the BEA facilities, 1441 L Street, NW, Washington, D.C. (See the agenda for more details.) The conference attendees represented Federal government agencies, local think tanks, state and local government associations, and private-sector firms.
The purpose of the conference was to report on NIPA Government Sector Research, to preview new research, to obtain user feedback, and to discuss future developments in the NIPA Government Sector.

State and Local Data Symposium
BEA held a State and Local Data Symposium on Wednesday, May 18, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the conference center at BEA in downtown Washington, D.C. The symposium attendees included both data users and data suppliers representing Federal agencies, economic research organizations, and other organizations focusing on issues related to state and municipal governments.

BEA Government Statistics Users Conference, 2004: Government Receipts and Expenditures and Consumption Expenditures and Gross Investment
BEA held a Government Statistics Users Conference on Wednesday, September 15, 2004, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Residence Inn Marriott Hotel, 1199 Vermont Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. (See the agenda for more details.) The conference attendees represented Federal government agencies, local think tanks, state and local government associations, private consulting firms, and local colleges and universities.
The goals of the conference were to obtain comments on our planned research program for the Government Sector of the National Income and Product Accounts (NIPAs), to obtain reactions to recent developments involving Government Sector national accounting issues, and to obtain an assessment of the extent to which BEA’s Government Division meets data users’ needs.
The following objectives were accomplished during the conference:
- Discussed revisions to the Government Sector that were incorporated during the 2003 comprehensive NIPA revision.
- Discussed and obtained comments on BEA’s research program for the Government Sector.
- Discussed and obtained reactions to recent developments involving Government Sector national accounting issues.
- Determined the level of customer satisfaction with BEA’s Government Division.
