Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking

The Sex Offender Sentencing, Monitoring, Apprehending, Registering, and Tracking (SMART) Office was authorized by the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006. The primary assignment of SMART is to ensure that convicted sex offenders are prohibited to prey on citizens through an organization of restrictions, regulations, and internment. The SMART Office is responsible for establishing and maintaining the standards for the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Program as described by the Adam Walsh Act. The SMART Office also oversees grant programs relating regarding sex offender registration and notification.
