July 4, 2005 - NASA Swift Satellite Offers a Different View of the Great Comet Collision
Scientists using the Swift satellite witnessed a tale of fire and ice today, as NASA's Deep Impact probe slammed into the frozen comet Tempel 1. The collision briefly lit the dim comet's surface and exposed, for the first time, a section of ancient and virgin material from the comet's interior.

February 18, 2005 - NASA Observes One of Brightest Cosmic Explosions
Scientists detected a flash of light from across the Galaxy so powerful; it bounced off the moon and lit up the Earth's upper atmosphere. The flash was brighter than anything ever detected from beyond our Solar System, and it lasted over a tenth of a second.
