Mystery Sheen

Cape Canaveral, FL    2008-Apr-22

A brown sheen of about 20 miles in diameter, located about 60 miles east of Canaveral Florida was reported by a commercial airliner. The Coast Guard has contacted a ship in the region to try to get on scene observations. It is not known at this time whether the sheen is oil, another material, or a natural phenomenon. Coast Guard requested a trajectory analysis in case it turns out to be oil.
