SUBJECT: The Army Civilian Corps

1. We are pleased to announce the establishment of the "Army Civilian Corps." Army civilians have a 230-year record of service and are a critical component of the Total Army Force Structure. The name unifies the Army civilian service and embodies the commitment of these dedicated individuals who serve as an integral part of the Army team.

2. Army civilians serve in all theaters and are deployed worldwide supporting the Army mission and the Global War on Terrorism. As the Army's missions have evolved and become more complex, so have the roles of Army civilians.

3. The enclosed Army Civilian Corps Creed defines the purpose and role of the Army civilian. The Army Civilian Corps Creed is available on the Army Civilian Personnel on-line website: http://acpol.army.mil/employment/about_value.htm.

4. The Army Civilian Corps title befits the people that comprise a key capability of our Army's force structure. Army civilians of yesterday, today, and tomorrow are and will remain integral parts of the Army team. It is a distinction civilians have earned due to their vital service to the Nation and the Army.
