Rick Patch ( Omaha , NE ): Rick, a full-time medical student, exemplifies the AmeriCorps spirit of service. After his service year with Habitat for Humanity of Omaha ended, Rick continued to play a leadership role at the organization. He was the project leader on a house built by Creighton University students and regularly acts as a team leader. He has actively recruited over 100 students from Creighton to Habitat and is organizing a campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity at Creighton University Medical School . In addition, Rick has been instrumental in starting the soon-to-be-opened Magis Clinic, a medical clinic sponsored by Creighton University Medical Center which will serve the homeless and uninsured. Rick continues to represent AmeriCorps well, even three years after his official service ended. |
